During my morning walk with Peyton and the Diesel, we started talking about the monotony of experiencing a similar day repeatedly. Kind of like the movie Groundhog Day. I know we've touched on quarantine fatigue before, and I don't want to exhaust you with the same old talk, but let's get real... this year has been an emotional rollercoaster.
As someone who is always looking at situations from all sides to get the full picture of the situation, I've been going beyond the surface into a few practices that have helped me stay positive and hopeful this summer. Even when I have a moment or sometimes a whole day that has me off, it is good to go back to the tools that I know will shift my mindset. One of them is getting back into hobbies and drastically limiting my social media time.
Music, reading books, playing with my plants, journaling, and even working out can all be powerful stress relievers and avenues to keep ourselves happy while at home.
What about we shift our daily actions and commit either try something NEW or something you haven't done in a long time! Maybe it's going for a bike ride or walk instead of binge-watching that show. Or perhaps it's taking a break in the day just to dance it out. Feel free to get silly! How many of us get hype about a book and order it without doing more than skimming it? Maybe it's finally reading a book that you ordered earlier this year and have yet to crack open.
Remember this:
"You don't have to be good at something for it to be good for you."
I am not pushing you to share your new practice on social media, but I'd love to see and support you if you so choose to. I would like to be one of you biggest fans so feel free to tag me @FtXBrit
Whatever you decide, I hope it brings you a little joy and becomes something you genuinely look forward to every week.
